The tour guide will provide narrated history of the area throughout the day. The tour includes time to enjoy tastings at select wineries.
On the way to Muir Woods, look out for:
- The Palace of Fine Arts -- This location offers great views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island and the city skyline.
- The Golden Gate Bridge -- This classic San Francisco icon and is incredible for photo opportunities from every angle.
- Pacific Coast Highway -- The tour also drives through coastal mountains near Mt. Tamalpais, the highest point in the North Bay.
Arrive at Muir Woods with a map and be ready for a short walk through these spectacular woods! Muir Woods is the only surviving "old growth" forest in the Bay Area! The world’s tallest trees, Giant Pacific Coast Redwoods also live in this region.
After leaving Muir Woods, the tour heads north to wine country for an afternoon of wine tasting. Learn Wine Country history on the way to Sonoma Valley. This tour provides a wide array of what California Wine Country has to offer, including large scale and family wineries such as:
- Viansa -- Founded in 1988 by third generation Sebastianis, Viansa was created as a way to share their love of good food, fine wine, and Italian heritage.
- Ravenswood -- No wimpy wines! For as long as anybody can remember, this has been the philosophy of Ravenswood Winery.
- Homewood Winery -- This is as close to a one-man winery as David Homewood can keep it. He does as much of the step-by-step viticulture and vinification process as he can. It is, therefore, a small operation limited to a production run of 3,000 cases per year.
- Benziger -- Try a taste of your favorite wine or try something new. Enjoy limited production Reserve wines, Vineyard Designate wines and wines from estate vineyards.
There may also be opportunities to visit the Mission San Francisco de Solano, the northernmost California Mission and explore the boutique shops that surround the downtown area. Finally, as the tour journeys back to San Francisco, sit back, relax and lose yourself in a breathtaking California sunset!
